Air Peace To Resume Uyo Route With N50,000, Below Competitor’s Fare

Nigeria’s largest air carrier, Air Peace, has revealed it will resume Uyo operations to intensify competition in Akwa Ibom’s aviation market.

Currently, the Uyo route depends on Ibom Air, a state government-run airline, but the flight resumption by Air Peace will end in favour of air passengers on that route. 

Air Peace plans to resume Uyo operations on December 1, 2022, with a competitive ticket price of N50,000. This is below Ibom Air’s current price of N80,000 and December 1 ticket fare of N65,000.

The Allen Onyema-owned international airline was previously operating on the route before halting service in 2020 – the resumption will provide air passengers more option to connect other Nigerian cities from Uyo. 

It will also increase Air Peace’s 20 domestic routes. With its aircraft fleet increasing to eight Airbus 320s, the company is also serving seven regional routes and three international destinations. 

On Thursday, the spokesperson for Air Peace, Stanley Olisa, said the airline was ”happy to inform the flying public of resumption of flight operations into Uyo on December 1, 2022, with a re-launch fare of N50,000.

“Our customers can now book their Uyo flights on all our booking platforms as the schedules are live.” 

The resumption of the Uyo operation follows the decision by Air Peace to revive flight services in Monrovia and Liberia on December 2, as well as add Yola to to its Nigerian routes.

Meanwhile, Prime Business Africa had reported that in 2014, Air Peace took to the airspace in Nigeria. This move was 10 years after Arik Air launch, six years after Dana Air, and four years after Azman Air was floated.

However, eight years after launch, Air Peace has grown to become the leader of Nigeria’s aviation industry. A firm, which began operations as domestic airline, is now rubbing wings with foreign air shuttles in the international airspace, serving as Nigeria’s flag-bearer in the absence of a national carrier.
