No group has come out to claim responsibility for the attack but the area which the blast occurred is predominantly Hazara neighbourhood — a minority Shiite group which has witnessed hostilities and attacks from the Islamic State group.

Cities in Afghanistan have seen record attacks of suicide bomb blast since the United States and its allies pulled out of Afghanistan last year. More attacks keep on taking place on Fridays mostly in mosques, during prayer hours.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid condemned the Afghan bomb attack in a tweet on Friday.

“The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan calls the attack on Kaj training center in the 13th district of Kabul a big crime, strongly condemns it, and expresses deepest sympathy to the families of the victims of this incident,” he said in the tweet.

“Serious measures will be taken to find and punish the perpetrators,” he added.

The united Nation Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF) also condemned the incident in a tweet saying it was “appalled by the horrific attack.”

“This heinous act claimed the lives of dozens of adolescent girls and boys and severely injured many more,” UNICEF wrote.

“Violence in or around education establishments is never acceptable. Such places must be havens of peace where children can learn, be with friends, and feel safe as they build skills for their futures,” UNICEF added.
