Adeleke’s Victory: Judiciary Rescued Osun People From Slavery – Shehu Sani

Shehu Sani, former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, has congratulated Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on his victory at the Supreme Court.

Sani in a post on his Twitter handle on Tuesday, while congratulating Adeleke, said that by the ruling, the judiciary has delivered the people of the state from the shackles of slavery and attempted robbery of their mandate.

“A long journey for Senator Adeleke and the People of Osun. The Judiciary has rescued the people of Osun from the attempted robbery of their mandate and delivered them from slavery. “Congratulations to all those who stood on the side of Justice,” Sani tweeted.

A five-man panel of justices of the apex court on Tuesday upheld the judgement of the Abuja division of the Court of Appeal which ruled that Adeleke was validly elected as Governor of Osun State through majority votes announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the July 16 2022 polls.

PDP, Atiku, Saraki, Okowa, Others Congratulate Adeleke

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), its presidential candidate in the last election, Atuku Abubaka; former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, and Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, among others have congratulated Adeleke on his victory at the Supreme Court.

The PDP in a post on its verified Twitter handle said the “victory is a confirmation of our Party’s popularity in Nigeria and commitment to nation building.”

Atiku on his part said he is excited about the victory, adding that it is not just a testament of Adeleke’s unwavering dedication and perseverance, but also symbolises the trust and faith the people of Osun State have vested in him.

He added: “Your journey to this monumental accomplishment has been characterised by tenacity and a staunch belief in the democratic process. Your success at the Supreme Court reaffirms the robustness of our judiciary and the strength of democracy in our nation.

“I wish you every success in your endeavours as you continue to lead Osun State into a promising future. Congratulations once again on your well-deserved victory.”

Saraki said the victory is “a triumph for democracy and the people of Osun State.”

Okowa wrote: “Congratulations to my dear brother and friend, Governor Ademola Adeleke, the people of Osun State and the People’s Democratic Party (@OfficialPDPNig) on today’s Supreme Court decision!”

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, also hailed Adeleke on the victory.

Governor Fintiri said the apex court ruling has laid to rest all maters arising from the last governorship election in the state.

He urged the people of Osun State across political parties, ethnic groups and other identities to rise up and support Adeleke to move the state forward.

“It is time for Osun people from all political parties and all ethnic subgroups to rise up and support Governor @AAdeleke_01 to deliver on his mandate,” Fintiri tweeted.
