Star Actor Jim Iyke Set To Launch Book On Life’s Struggles, Triumphs February 1

Nollywood star actor and entrepreneur James Asomugha best known as Jim Iyke will on Monday 1st February 2022 launch the first volume of his work ‘The Gift in The Odds’, a book series he describes as giving an exclusive account of his emergence as both a successful actor and an entrepreneur.

The actor, whose recent film ‘Bad Comments’ is set for an SVOD debut, hosted a pre-launch on Friday night of the book which was well attended by entertainment practitioners, friends and relatives of the thespian.

With his life as a backdrop, Iyke said the book will point the searchlight on traditions, patterns, and constraints.

The series, Prime Business Africa gathered from a popular Publicist close to the Anambra state actor, spans a total of 15 volumes addressing a wide range of topics.

“It’s about everything I did to conquer my fears; inhibitions and all I did to achieve my aspirations in life,” Jim Iyke told the attendees.

“I documented my experiences verbatim in this book. In 2020 when the world was literally coming down to its knees, the world shut down on us. I couldn’t go with him to the US and we couldn’t go back to Nigeria.

“My plan was, during my short stay after ‘Bad Comments’ in 2022, I’ll go do a course in Havard University. I decided that was when I’d write. But in six months doing nothing, I grew unsettled. I decided to write ‘The Gift of the Odds’.

“It’s a fifteen series book. There’s a subtitle for everyone and it’s different volumes. This volume is called ‘Walking Through Walls’ and teaches you how to walk to challenges and making time your ally.”

During the virtual pre-launch, Jim Iyke spoke on his humble beginnings and how he had learned some of the life principles he abides by today at the feet of mentors and brilliant minds.

“No matter what you’re going through in life, that too will pass. The let-it-pass ideology has become the userguide and a roadmap with which I deal with situations I’ve faced. We have a volume that dealt with grief,” Iyke added.

“I’ve had to lose a child in my life. These are the things I cater to in this book. I spoke about love, companionship, raising kids, finding your path in life alone, building startups, career development, tiers of friendship.

“I spoke about how I made things happen even in times of great uncertainty. I’ve been to conferences, colleges, symposiums. There’s nothing I’ve not heard. But I didn’t deal with anything contemporary in this book.

“I learned all I know at the foot of kings, from mentors, people who have mastered the phenomenon of life.”

Jim Iyke is the Chief Executive Officer of the music label, Untamed Records. In terms of movies, he started his career in 2001 and has starred in over 100 productions.
