Labour Party (LP) candidate, Victor Umeh has been declared winner of the Anambra Central Senatorial District seat.
Umeh defeated Senator Uche Ekwunife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is currently representing the senatorial district in the National Assembly.
The Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Returning Officer for the election, Prof Chuka Enuka, announced the result on Tuesday in Awka.
Enuka said that Umeh scored 103,608 votes to beat his closest rival, Mr Dozie Nwankwo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), who scored 69,702, while Senator Uche Ekwunife of PDP scored 49,532 taking third position.

“With the powers vested on me as the Returning Officer, the candidate of the Labour Party having polled the highest number of vote cast and having fulfilled all requirements is therefore declared elected and returned,” Enuka said.
