African women’s champions Super Falcons will later this evening (Wednesday) face the Lady Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in the reverse leg of their 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers at the 10, 000 capacity Stade Robert Champroux in Marcory, a suburb in Abidjan.
The Falcons defeated their west African rivals 2-0 in the first leg on Friday at the Moshood Abiola stadium in Abuja with goals from Ifeoma Onumonu the difference between the two teams.
The nine-time African champions are without African women’s Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala through injury as well as Desire Oparanozie and Francisca Ordega.
The Ivorians will be hoping to overturn the two-goal lead by the Nigerians bouyed by their humiliating 20-0 aggregate win over Niger Republic before setting up the clashes with Nigeria.
However the Falcons will be inspired by the desire to avenge their failure to qualify for the football event of the 2020 Olympics as they were eliminated by their hosts.
