COMMANDANT-GENERAL of the Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps, Dr Ahmed Audi, has announced that 20,000 personnel will be deployed to Anambra to provide security during the November 6 gubernatorial election.
The NSCDC, Commandant-General, said the personnel would be drafted and deployed from the Arms Squad Unit, Counter-Terrorism Unit and Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Explosives Unit
The CG explained that this person would be expected to ensure the security of lives and property in the state, while also ensuring the protection of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials, INEC staff, among other things.
Audi, said the deployed personnel are to ensure effective monitoring before, during and after the election.
According to him, the agency is already collaborating with other security agencies in the country to checkmate any act of electoral violence and other nefarious activities that could undermine the process of the November 6 election.
NSCDC personnel from Ekiti, Kogi, Benue and Ondo states have been placed on standby while personnel from the South-South and South-East have been deployed to Anambra for security reasons
